Can a $500 computer bridge the digital divide? If so, what would it be and what would make you want one?

One year before Negroponte's OLPC initiative, this project involved 8 students from ENSCI-Les Ateliers in partnership with the Belleville community center with the support of the Paris city council. The goal was to provide office-automation skills to people left behind by the “Digital Revolution”. Among the students two were heading toward their final year (Dorothée Blouin and my-self) and were given specific management duties during the course of the project.

My part: Sharing interaction design principles and basic computer hardware knowledge; User interface research; Visual and thorough UI design; Demonstrator development in ActionScript 2.0;
